Midwest Marine Group provides independent Condition & Suitability Surveys for commercial vessels, workboats, barges, offshore support vessels and specialised marine assets. Vessel Condition Assessment

A Condition Survey provides an independent assessment of the vessel's physical and operational condition at the time of inspection.

Depending on the scope of the survey, inspections may include the hull and structure, decks, machinery spaces, propulsion systems, steering arrangements, electrical systems, tanks, deck machinery, safety equipment and accommodation areas.

Visible deterioration, corrosion, damage, leakage, structural defects and maintenance issues are documented and supported by photographs where appropriate.

Suitability for Intended Operations

A vessel may be in generally satisfactory condition but still not be suitable for a particular operation.

Our Suitability Surveys consider the proposed work scope and assess whether the vessel's configuration, equipment, condition and capabilities are appropriate for the intended activity.

This may include consideration of deck arrangements, lifting equipment, towing equipment, machinery capability, navigation and communications systems, safety equipment, operational limitations and other project-specific requirements.

On-Hire & Off-Hire Surveys

Midwest Marine Group can conduct independent on-hire and off-hire condition surveys to establish and document the condition of a vessel at the commencement or completion of a charter period.

The survey provides an objective record of vessel condition and can assist owners, charterers and operators in identifying existing damage, deterioration or changes in condition during the charter period.

Structural & Asset Integrity Assessment

Where structural condition requires further investigation, the survey can be supported by additional inspection techniques including:

• Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT)

• Visual Testing (VT)

• Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)

• Thermal imaging

• Drone inspection

• ROV underwater inspection

• Borescope inspection

• High-resolution photographic documentation

These techniques allow areas of corrosion, material loss, cracking, deterioration and inaccessible structure to be investigated in greater detail.

Independent Reporting

Following the inspection, Midwest Marine Group provides a clear and structured survey report documenting the vessel's condition, identified defects and relevant observations.

Where appropriate, findings can be categorised according to their significance, with recommendations provided for repairs, maintenance, further investigation or corrective action.

Reports can be tailored to meet the requirements of vessel owners, charterers, insurers, project managers, operators and other stakeholders.
